Windows Server 2025 RDS 50 Device CAL — Remote Desktop Services License: installation & activation

Step 1 — Install Remote Desktop Licensing

1. Log in to your Windows Server 2025 server.
2. Open Server Manager.
3. Select Add Roles and Features.
4. Install the Remote Desktop Licensing role service.
5. Complete the installation.

Step 2 — Activate the Remote Desktop License Server

1. Open Remote Desktop Licensing Manager.
2. Right-click your license server.
3. Select Activate Server.
4. Follow the activation wizard.
5. Complete the license server activation process.

Step 3 — Install the 50 Device CALs

1. Open Remote Desktop Licensing Manager.
2. Right-click the activated license server.
3. Select Install Licenses.
4. Select the appropriate licensing program.
5. Enter the license information provided by Easysoftwares.
6. Complete the installation process.

Step 4 — Configure RDS Licensing Mode

1. Open Group Policy Management or your Remote Desktop Services deployment settings.
2. Configure the licensing mode as:

Per Device

1. Specify your Remote Desktop Licensing Server.
2. Apply the configuration.
3. Restart the required Remote Desktop Services components if necessary.

Step 5 — Connect Client Devices

Once the RDS environment is configured, authorized devices can connect to the Remote Desktop Services environment.

Each device accessing the RDS environment must be properly licensed according to the applicable Microsoft licensing requirements.
